Vishu Kaineettam: The ritual of blessings and gifts
On Vishu day, the elders of the family give money or gifts to the younger ones called “Vishu Kaineettam”. This is a symbol of blessings and love. The younger ones wear new clothes, bow to the elders and receive blessings.
Vishu Sadya: Traditional feast
Another special attraction of the Vishu festival is “Vishu Sadya”, which is a traditional vegetarian feast. Served on banana leaves, this feast consists of various delicious dishes, such as-

- Payasam (dessert)
